Pride Means Coming Home
Deborah “Debbie” Owusu-Akyeeah, a first-generation Ghanaian-Canadian, is the new Executive Director (ED) of the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity (CCGSD) and proudly took this position as of July 6th, 2020!
A feminist with over 8 years of local and international advocacy experience in a variety of roles ranging from programming and counselling to policy analysis and project management, Debbie bridges her passion for social justice with international development at Oxfam Canada and volunteering with feminist organizations like the Ottawa Dyke March, Harmony House Women’s Shelter, and Planned Parenthood Ottawa.
Whether behind a megaphone at a protest, at home baking, or workin in on the rugby field — Debbie is a force to be reckoned with and we are so pumped to have her on our show during this final week of Pride Month!
